the gallery at woodend supports a diverse range of artists and craftspeople who work in Scarborough and North Yorkshire. Located in the foyer and main Gallery space, our collections offer a range of original art works and comprises a unique assortment of hand made products including fine art, craft, jewellery, ceramics and textiles. All items are for sale. In addition, the gallery at woodend hosts a range of temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Entry to the gallery at woodend is FREE and all visitors are very welcome!

Textiles at Woodend

The Woodend Gallery is delighted to be showing work by some of the Region's foremost textile artists. Pieces by Zeneta Bakute, Helen Birmingham, Helen Edwards, Jane Jackson, Angela Knipe, Margaret Kenny and Lindsey Tyson will reveal and explore a sumptuous world of colour and texture. The exhibition will include intimate items of jewellery, large wall hangings, three dimensional work and carefully crafted embroidery that will present the viewer with a veritable panoply of beautiful fabrics. 

 

Lec Caven - New Work

Lec Caven is an emerging artist who lives and works on the Yorkshire Coast. Her work is inspired by people, places, landscape and music. Lec works with a variety of materials, her abstract work uses striking colours and rich textures that make the viewer look within themselves to see what has been created.

Summer Open Show

Following the hugely successful postcard summer show in 2015, Woodend will be hosting a second open exhibition this year. The summer show is open to all professional artists who are invited to submit work for consideration on the themes of coast and moors. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Woodend Art Gallery this exhibition promises to showcase a breathtaking array of work in a variety of styles, subject and medium. The exhibition will be an opportunity to buy something truly unique.
 
 

Nick Wilkinson

Thursday 6th October - Friday 28th October

Nick has a passion for fine art and continues to pursue painting as an extended career. Focusing on the theme of cult heroes and celebrity figures, the exhibition shows Nick's continuing fascination for late 20th century iconography. The exhibition will also debut new work by the artist unveiling for the first time his latest themes and influences.

An exhibition of mainly black and white photographs spanning more than 30 years and covering several genres from a photographer with no formal training.
From portraits, urban and industrial landscapes to the surreal and somewhat abstract, these images come together in a cohesive narrative characterised by David Arnison's background and photographic influences.

Christmas is always a magical time , so buy something special this year at the Gallery at Woodend. Built in 1835 our historic building possesses a 19th Century charm that conjures up a welcoming Dickensian ambience. Accompanied by the obligatory tree, lights and tinsel the Gallery will offer a range of artwork and craft items for that unique Christmas gift.
